The Returners:
UGA brings back PG Silas Demary (10pts 4rebs 3ast 3.0 stl% 13.3 Dreb%), Blue Cain (8pts 3reb 35% 3pt), and Dylan James (4pts 3rebs 35% 3pt 65% rim).
The Offseason:
The Dawgs had an eventful offseason bringing in nine new players. Each of their transfers look to be key pieces. They bring in Dakota Leffew (18pts 4reb 4ast 23 ast% 37% 3pt) and De’Shayne Montgomery (13pts 4rebs 2ast 41% 3pt 65% rim) from Mount St. Mary’s, Tyrin Lawrence (14pts 5rebs 2ast 3 stl% 17 Dreb%) from Vanderbilt, and RJ Godfrey (6pts 4reb 68% rim 17 Dreb% 5 blk%) from Clemson. The last transfer is Justin Abson (8pts 7reb 70% rim 21 Dreb% 10 Blk%) from Appalachian State. They bring in four freshmen as well and three look poised for key roles. Those players include Somto Cyril (top-10 4-star Center prospect) from OTE’s RWE, Asa Newell (top-2 5-star PF from Montverde), Savo Drezgic (U18 EuroBasket First-Team PG) from DME Academy/Serbia, and Jordyn Kee from Sagemont (FL) (3-star CG).
The Outlook:
UGA finished just outside the top 10 in the SEC last season. This year, they have a much improved team and should look to make a push for the NCAA tournament. One of the key factors to their season will be sizable leaps in efficiency from Demary and Cain. They also need Savo Drezgic to be a lethal option off the bench. The perimeter has plenty of options to go to though, so the frontcourt and wing is the more unproven area of the team. Expect them to run a lot Lawrence and Leffew at the SF spot. They will be running some young guys at the big spots as well. Between Godfrey, Cyril, Newell, Abson, and James they have some depth, but a lot of the production has to be seriously projected. The good thing is that they all rebound, defend, and finish well. I believe Newell, Cyril, and Abson will have to have to the most impact while Godfrey and James should be good depth. I can see Newell really breaking out with this opportunity to run the four but he’ll battle for time with Godfrey and James. That means the frontcourt rotation is still pretty up in the air. Godfrey could get a lot of the PF minutes, or it could be Newell or Dylan James might even throw his hat in there. The dawgs have shooting, defense, high-end athleticism and some real depth to make some noise in the SEC.
Project Conference Ranking Range: 8th-11th

Blue Cain-24
Dakota Leffew-26
Asa Newell-24

Savo Drezgic-20
